Interior Design 2026 ins & outs
Trends have been shifting in 2026 and here are four ins and outs that we can expect to see this year.
Out - Vertical Slat Walls In - Large wood Panels
This was a trend in 2025 where we saw these slat walls used as accents behind TV consoles, entry ways, bedroom walls, gyms, etc. Coming up on the new year, we’ve already seen a shift to large wood panels taking place of the smaller scale slat paneling.
Out - Bouclé Furniture In - Velvet, Linen, and Shearling Furniture
Bouclé furniture is out for 2026—expect its soft, nubby textures to give way to richer materials. Look for an uptick in soft velvet, breathable linen, and cozy shearling as designers favor tactile luxury and enduring comfort. These fabrics will define interiors with layered warmth and texture.
Out - White and Gray Quartz In - Natural Stones with Rich Color
White and gray quartz has become synonymous with builder-grade finishes. While Calacatta marble remains a timeless and elegant choice, in 2026 we will see fewer of its pale veining natural stones with richer, deeper color. Dramatic varieties—Rosso Levanto, Dark Emperador, and Green Onyx—will be focal points, bringing bold warmth and luxurious depth to interiors.
Out - Mitered Countertop Edges In - Rounded Corners and Laminated Edges
In recent years, mitered edges have been popular for introducing visual interest to countertops while maintaining a sleek, clean look. In 2026, expect to see fewer squared profiles and more curved corners and decorative details, such as the ogee edge.
